is Vegetarian even a food choice?
Lately, I've been thinking about becoming Vegetarian. It's a brilliant idea of being one with nature plus I gets you lean. For example, Prince. He's a vegetarian, and he was given the title of "World's Sexiest Vegetarian". Bill Clinton did it, Paul McCartney did it and I'm pretty sure Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did it as well(becoming vegetarian, not.. you know). It's a good way to stop slaughtering animals I guess. In fact, I am typing this blog, I have a bowl of seasoned tofu next to me. BUT then I remember. The good times I have with chicken. MMMM, chicken. The tender, juicy delight of a meat called chicken. Barbecue, Ranch, Lemon Pepper, Gold Rush. I'm listing the items on Pluckers by the way. It's a hard choice, a ying and yang deal for me. Should I become a Vegetarian to become more Lean and healthy or Should I stay with Chicken to improve muscle mass and strength? I'm going to have to go with.. chicken. Too many good memories to let this go to waste. Gotta enjoy life to the fullest. Don't let a decision come into conflict with you. This is the moral of the story (Blog).

Late For Meeting
Do not judge base on the thumbnail of this video. It is nothing bad, just really weird. I would consider it family-friendly at least. No explanations are necessary or needed when it comes to this video. I just know I had a hard time not laughing when I saw it.
Abbey Road
Many will recognize Abbey Road even if they haven't listen to the album at all.
"Abbey Road? You mean the picture where four men with awesome beards (okay, three with beards and one with no shoe on) are walking in sync to their destination?"
This album cover has to be the one of the most historical album cover of all album covers known to man.
And since then we are given endless amounts of parodied and recreated versions of the album cover such as:
And
But enough about the album cover. Let's talk music.
I wasn't joking when I said "let's talk music".
This album is SOOO GOOD. All jokes aside, you have to take a moment (specifically 47 minutes and 30 seconds) to listen to the whole thing. It would be considered UNCONSTITUTIONAL if you dare skip any song of this album. You have to sit there and listen to it all. But for the sake of time, I'll give you an example of what music needs to be in the present.
Listen to Paul McCartney's Vocals shredding up to perform this song. It's crazy good. The raspy sound is either giving you three signs: 1) you naturally have a raspy voice 2) You are doing weird with your vocal cords and 3) You smoke a lot. For Paul's case, it has to be 2. I recommend listening to the whole album if you get the chance.

Jimmy Page
A legend in Guitar History, A Idol to many who play guitar, and Probably one of the longest hair I've seen on a guy - Jimmy Page. Well, that's the end of the blog. Nothing to say here.
AHHH just kidding. I love Jimmy Page! Let's get that right off the bat. If he ask me to jump in a pool of Angry Alligators, I would probably do it. Sike. But Jimmy Page is the greatest guitar player in my opinion. He's so versatile in music and that's such a great thing to have. For example, in one of his live performances, he preforms Chopin Prelude No.4. For those who don't know who Chopin is, he is a composer in the Romantic Period(roughly 1770-1845). It's a great cover/homage to Chopin with a rock and roll twist.
I recommend skipping 2 minutes in the video since the first 2 minutes is him preparing.

It Might Get Loud: Jack White
Jack White has to be one of my many inspirations to write. The reason being that once I saw the music documentary "It Might Get Loud" with him, Jimmy Page, and The Edge, his moments in the movie just stood out. Maybe because he kind of acted like a jerk, but his ideals of a songwriter is great. I remember him saying "If you don't have a struggle, you have to make one up". That line stuck with me from then on. Though I do recognize him as a inspiration for me to write again, I do not listen to his songs. The only song I heard from him was "A Seven Nations Army". The movie he was in was great though. I highly recommend watching "It Might Get Loud" if you are a huge guitar fan, or a huge fan of any of the three guitar players in the movie.
Kanye On Sway in The Morning
Kanye. Ye. Yeezy. Yeezus. No matter how many names he has, we all know who he is but it's the thing we describe him as are different. Some people call him talented, others call him "a Jackass"(-Barack Obama). And he's probably one of the notorious figures of rap history.
About this video, it does include a lot of cursing, screaming, and Kanye saying "you ain't got the answers". Sway was trying to ask Kanye about fashion products and when he tried to give Kanye some advice, Kanye flipped. My words can't guarantee how funny this video is so click it with your own risk.

Dazed And Confused
A great movie and a heck of a song. I remembered being introduced to Led Zeppelin doing a recorded performance in guitar class a year ago and my first impression of them was "Whoa, those are some killer vocals". In their song "Dazed and Confused", it begins with a bass guitar with a catchy hook(tune/riff?) and then BAM! Robert Plant sending a strong message through voice. You should also see their live performance when Jimmy Page uses the bow on his guitar. Pretty insane.

WAR!
War is not a good thing. It's kind of obvious. HOWEVER, the music is great!
"War" is orignally written by Norman Whitfield for The Temptations. The Temptations had smooth vocals and delivered a anti-war message back in the 1970s. Motown Records hesitated in releasing "War" as a single and IN CAME EDWIN STARR. He had this quality of strength, dramatic and INTENSE sound to his voice. You might recognize his version of "War" from "Rush Hour" where Jackie Chan's character Lee attempted to sing it.There is also a Bruce Springsteen version that delivers even MORE POWER("PO PO PO PO PO POWER!"-Terry Crews). I favor Edwin Starr's War personally because I grew up listening and loving Rush Hour.

WORLD
Lately, I've been having this feeling of being little. No, it's not because of bullying or how little self-esteem I have (which I don't) but just being little. When I imagine myself, I don't see me. I see Earth and Space. Of course comparing me to the Earth, there is no chance of seeing me but I find that strange. I see the people around me and I don't see them like how I see myself. I see them as stars on Earth because they seem to know where they are in life and that makes them stick out. I'm 17 years old and soon I'll be moving into the world. But where do I start? Who do I need and what can I do? The idea of it is scary. You don't know what is going to happen. That's what I am afraid of. I'm sure that scares a lot of people as well. You want to find your place on this Earth but you don't know what you want yet. And you think "I'm never going succeed". You're so sure that you are not a star on Earth but the fact is you are. Your light is just very dim.
I've come the realization that I want to be seen as a star on Earth and plan to do everything I can to become one. So what's stopping you? Not tough enough? Afraid to take on the world? There is going to be obstacles, aches and pain through out your life. But rather than thinking about it and doing nothing, I plan to go through it, learn from it, and succeed from it. Fear is just a illusion, you can overcome it.

The Who?
You know. The Who! 1960s Rock & Roll Band, they have a crazy drummer, and almost every performance a guy smashes his guitar? Who? THE WHO! Come on, how do you know The Whats and Wheres but not know The Who? Last sentence was a joke, there is no band called The Whats and Wheres... what?
So enough of the introductions, it's time to prioritize the main topic here, THE WHO! The first song that I ever heard from them was My Generation. I couldn't help but to notice that the song sounded similar to Are You Going to Be My Girl By Jet the first time I heard them.
Now that I've listened to both songs, they are completely DIFFERENT. Jet is more "YEAH, ROCK ON! LET'S PARTY! BE MY GIRL!". The Who is more "Yeah! We're are pretty rock as well! I stutter to prove it as well!". Guys, My Generation is the only song they stutter. Some can't stand the stuttering which confuses me and makes me wonder if they have a problem with people with a speech disorder. What, you like Porky Pig but can't bear the sound of stuttering when it's put into music? I find the stuttering very unique and cool.
The Who are also most noticeable in this song:
CSI anyone?

TLC!
I know what you are thinking. OHH this is so old news! or who and what is TLC? TLC is a group of 3(now 2) African-American girls who made hits in the 1990s. One of their most notable hit is Waterfalls.
This song was to raise awareness of STDs, drugs, and promote a alternative and healthy life. The video is about a mother who loses her to drugs and a couple who dies from doing the nasty without any protection. The waterfalls represents that you shouldn't go for something you can't handle and you should instead "stick to the rivers and lakes that you're use to." There was a couple of TLC reference in The Other Guys. I recommend watching the movie and listening to their music.

HELP! The Beatles
Recently I watched a movie in class called 'HELP!', a 1965 film starring The Beatles. My first reaction to the movie was "wait, what?" If you miss a part, even if you blink, you won't understand the joke but that's okay because it makes up for it's slapstick humor. I've read more into the movie and how it was produced. An interesting fact, SPOILER ALERT or COOL FACT ALERT, is the scene where The Beatles were running away from a curler on the snowy mountains, Ringo and Paul ran over to a hill to smoke marijuana. There were actually some more locations where they smoke marijuana as well like the Buckingham Palace. They call it "Haze Of Marijuana". The film is hilarious, I say it's ahead of its time. It's right below the classics of James Bond. The ones with Pierce Bronsan. I recommend the movie and the James Bond movies!

The Rolling Stones? More like the rolling boulders..
As humans, we are known for judging other things and our vast curiosity of the world. So tell me, what category of music should The Rolling Stones be in? Dog doo doo or "England's Newest Hitmakers"? Sorry to come off disrespectful but really, it's an honest question. I think they are like a rotten apple, still a apple but not as good as it was. Maybe I judge too quickly, maybe I haven't listen enough of them to give an answer. WRONG! I listened to their first album all the way through, and I don't know about you, but I find a trash sandwich more satisfying than what I had heard.
You might say "Well, it is their first album. You can't expect greatness out of the first". WRONG! When you call yourself "England's Newest Hitmakers", I expect more than album full of covers and one original. And to think I was going to get a subscription for Rolling Stone Magazines. What, they band and the magazines aren't related in anyway? TRUE! I searched it up on Google and I'm leaving that sentence in, just for you to see how ignorant and arrogant I am. All jokes aside, their first album was garbage to my ears. Sure, It was monumental in music history but I just can't bring myself to appreciate it. I respect those who do, every person has a different opinion over it.
I'll listen to some works The Rolling Stones later did to broaden my musical sense. But I DO NOT RECOMMEND listening to "England's Newest Hitmakers" to relax your mind because honestly, you're just gonna get a concussion hearing it. I DO ,however, RECOMMEND listening to it for a good laugh.

Inspire
Last Friday, I was inspired by my choir teacher Mr. Phil Ajjarapu AKA Mr. A also known as "A is the first letter in the Alphabet". Get it? I twisted the words of One is A Lonely Number... Anyway, when I saw Mr. A rehearsing with his fellow musicians, I thought to myself "Huh, he does so much more in one hour than what I do on my free time and that's kinda sad".
During Spring Break 2012, he fell off a 30 feet overpass and survived. He nearly broke every functional thing in his body. I'm exaggerating. But after that accident and waking up 5 days later, he decided to make his dreams come true, he's "following my dream to bring my music to life and making an album of my own".
If you work hard enough and you're willing to make the sacrifices, you can achieve anything. And that's what I want to do. Mr. A inspired me to take actions in my life. I too ,want to have music as a career. I'm 17 and people tell me there's is no limits of what I can achieve so spend the most of it with no regrets. A year from now, I'm going to be 18 and I want to make sure that I achieved many things along the way. But age isn't really a factor when you compare it with your dreams because dreams are limitless. And if you're one of those people reading these blogs and what to do something with your life and be happy with it, be like Nike and Mr. A. Just do it. Get up off your butt and work for it. Strive for it. And maybe, just maybe, when the time is right, all will be yours.
PS-
It's ironic that I'm making a blog about inspiring people to work hard for what you want when I was suppose to do a blog a week ago. Woops.

A Hard Day's Night
A college student can relate to the title. You have to stay up long hours at night to pass a test
that determines your life and before the test, you have to pull an all nighter at your job because your coworker decides to call in sick. However, lucky for you, I'm not talking about college or my back up plan of becoming a stripper if I fail. I'm talking about The Beatles movie that came out in 1964. It's fun watching a piece of history because you can learn so much from it. The humor in movies change drastically over time. In my opinion, comedy movies now are more slapstick humor which involves physical activity and pushing the boundaries of common sense. Thank you Wikipedia.
The Beatles 'A Hard Day's Night' seems to be more polar, you either get it or you don't at all. That's how it was in my class when we watched it. The scene that intrigued me is John Lennon's bath tub boat singing and magically disappears after the water is drain. AND that scene when The Beatles first met Paul's Grandfather and Ringo horrible performance of a laugh. I recommend watching The Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" for a good laugh. It will really brighten your day, and give you a sense of what real comedy is. That's right, I just went there. REAL COMEDY! I'll leave you with this.

Jamie Foxx!
Jamie Foxx is one of my favorite musician, comedian and actor. The guy is a triple threat! I love and look up to Jamie with a passion. He is one of my inspirations that made me want to sing. His smooth, velvety voice is great. It's the type of voice you sleep to. The first song I heard from him was Unpredictable from his album "Unpredictable" in 2005. I heard the song when I was in Elementary. I was so into his hype, I even got the song for my ringtone. I had to change it because my phone rang and everybody gave me a weird look. I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics to the back then but when I did, WHOO it was naughty.
Jamie is known for the playing the role of Ray Charles in "Ray", Django in "Django Unchained" and The President in "White House Down" with Channing Tatum. Speaking of Channing Tatum, he and Jamie did a skit on Jimmy Kimmel called "Channing all over your Tatum". It's hilarious! Jimmy Kimmel part is awkward though.
The also made a official Music video that includes Miley Cyrus. Don't worry, there's no twerking. Hear it is if you're interested.
I also recommend watching "Straight from the Foxxhole". It's a great movie that shows Jamie Foxx in his stand-up days. Near the end of the movie, he closes his stand-up routine by wooing his audience.
Watch with your own risk because you will be jealous after.

Monty Python-The Black Knight
I was introduced to Monty Python in class and I just wanted to express my opinion on them. THEY'RE HILARIOUS. I couldn't contain my laughter when I saw The Black Knight. The idea of coconuts clapping together to make a horse gallop to the part where the Black Knight loses both his arm and kicked the king is funny beyond all reason. To me, it's more of a stupid funny. It's funny because its stupid. I liked how they involved visionary comedy as well.
Here's the scene from Monty Python and The Knights of the Holy Grail.

The Beatles got me screaming
my pants off. Is what every girl in the 1960s-1970s would say. They would also be screaming "LET ME HAVE YOUR BABIES!" We've been listening to The Beatles in class and it's hard NOT to like them. It's even harder how to explain why I like their music. Theirs suits? Their haircuts? Their talent at singing and songwriting? Yeah, that must be it. But really I can't explain it. It's like me trying to help my mom pronounce Scooby-Doo.
To be honest, the first time I got into their music is when my friend bought The Beatles Rock Band. The song that got me hooked is "Do You Want To Know A Secret?". It's smooth and groovy. Did I just really use the word groovy to say how I feel?
And the ONE SONG that made me feeeelll is "OH, Darling". It was different from every other song that I heard. Well, not different but approached in a new way. Well, not new but old.. I don't know where I'm going with this. I FREAKING LOVE THE VOCALS TO THIS SONG! If I sang the chorus like how Paul did, my larynx would've popped out of my throat and slapped me screaming "WHY STEVEN,WHY!" Paul's voice sounded like it was going to shred, in a good way.

Misleading Titled
Ladies and Gentleman, It's about that time where we start renting our suits and dresses for prom. But the magic doesn't happen at the dance, it happens after it. Soon as the dance is over, you ask your significant other to go home with you. They may be hesitant at first but he or she trust you, and you trust them. At your house, you offer them a drink. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. Give them juice or soda, maybe even a protein shake. You two are having the grand time, you're bonding with them, understanding them, loving them but conversation goes south. Then you go over to your parent's vinyl collection and find a record. D'angelo. It was like an angel came to your rescue cause you know, D'ANGELo. She looks uncomfortable so as a last resort, you pop in the record hoping and praying "god oh god please help me!". The music plays. She looks at you, you look at her, I look at you thinking "Go for it". And you make eye contact and say "May I have the last dance with you?" The magic happens. You had the last dance with her and both of you will remember as the best night of you life. Thanks to D'Angelo. AND YOU ONLY DANCED WITH HER, NOTHING ELSE.
I had to find a lyric video of this song because the real music video... WOOWEE is it graphic!
If actually look up the music video, you can tell that I base my image off of him but really, I can't. Cause I'm asian.

Little Richard
Recently in class I have the chance of discovering Little Richard. The first song and video I heard was "Tutti Frutti". The song is very jazzy and catchy. Little Richard has this aggressive vocal type that sparks up the song. It's threatening but at the same time you just want to dance along. I could imagine going to a couple of parties with Little Richard. He would have lighten up the whole room. I like how the band and audience are into it too. They're like "AWWW SNAP, THIS MY JAM!!"

Jerry Lee Lewis
Jerry Lee Lewis is insane! His piano skills accompanied with his soft vocals is legend wait for it...dary! Legendary! His one song I am particular interested in is his 1957 hit "Great Balls of Fire".
As I kept on listening, I just wanted to get up off my seat and dance with the music. When he plays the piano, it's upbeat and fun. While the guitar and drums are interesting, the piano really draws my attention. His slides are ahmazing~. They are so well timed. If I was to do a slide on the piano I would probably get my finger stuck half way and break it. His voice is great too. It's soft and free. Just how everybody wants to be.It's the type of voice you would like and not hate.

J.Cole
J.Cole's song "Crooked Smile" is the type of music you jam to when you're going 85 mph on the freeway at night with shades on! Though I do not recommend that kind of driving behavior, I do recommend you listen to this song.
J.Cole talks about a girl with a crooked smile to always keep her head up and love their inner beauty. I like this song because of the message it creates. TLC gives this song a extra boost than it already have. Their sweet vocals lightens the song and hearing them makes me smile. I wished that they would actually sing it instead of a sample.
Here is J.Cole performing live at Conan in TBS. His performance is legend wait for it....dary.! Legendary! One of the few musicians that could do live performance well.

Musiq Soulchild
I've been listening to Musiq (Soulchild) lately and everything about this man is great. His tone in every one of his songs is unbelievable. He has this moist, warm, airy voice that is smoother than a baby's butt. When you listen to his sings, he's not just singing notes. He painting a picture with words. A great song to listen to is "Love"
"Love" shows his capability to control his voice. His transitions to his falsetto fits perfectly in the music. Near the end he breaks out into falsetto and if there was a room full of glass, I bet 90% will break immediately and the other 10% would break because his voice is amazing.
The music accompanies his voice and delivers a relaxing, soulful performance. This is the best way to deliver a message for if the music was more upbeat, I believe the song will have no meaning. Musiq Soulchild gives flavor to R&B with his listen to his music.
